Formatting: To make the USB compatible to hold cryptocurrency, traders should first ensure the drive is clean of both data and malware. Next, they should format the USB, selecting the exFAT file system.
Encrypting: Newer versions of Windows allow users to easily encrypt flash drives using the BitLocker security feature, explains The Crypto Merchant, which will also provide traders with their recovery key.
Setting a Password: When choosing a password, the report recommends following standard best practices - creating a unique password consisting of at least 12 characters and combining upper and lower case letters, numbers, and special characters.
The guide also offers tips on securing the recovery key and provides recommendations on the leading hardware wallets from Ledger and Trezor.
